A letter from the founder

The work between AI conversations.

Flight Command A is a local-first Windows desktop workbench for researchers, builders, and people doing work too large to fit inside a single chat.

We did not set out to build another AI app.

I was trying to do real work with AI over time: build systems, make decisions, solve problems, keep records, and carry projects forward from one day to the next. The work kept growing, but the conversation kept ending.

Each new chat meant rebuilding context. Important decisions were buried in old threads. Files lived in one place, the AI's understanding lived somewhere else, and neither side had a durable place to meet.

So I decided to fix that problem.

A workbench for human and AI

Flight Command was built around a different idea: a human and an AI should be able to work together at the same bench.

I call the AI I work with Forge. It is good at reasoning, connecting ideas, helping write, plan, research, and build. I bring the real-world project, the judgment, the goals, the files, the history, and the final say.

Neither side can do its best work if the project disappears every time a chat closes.

The Workshop

Your private library: project files, notes, decisions, images, continuity records, and the actual work that belongs to you.

Flight Command

The workbench: it gives AI bounded tools and access to relevant project material while you control what exists, what changes, and what matters.

The result

When a conversation ends, the project does not. A new chat can regain its footing from the project record instead of guesswork.

Not simulated memory. A factual place to return to.

The goal was never to make an AI pretend it remembers everything. The goal was to give it the right facts, the right tools, and clear boundaries so it can be useful over time.

Work from yesterday—or months ago—can be picked back up from the actual record. You do not have to re-explain everything because your project is not trapped inside one chat history.

And the boundary matters. Flight Command is built to work inside the Workshop you choose, not to hand an agent the keys to your whole computer.

Real work deserves more than a chat history.

It deserves a Workshop. See how Flight Command A works, or read the practical guide to continuing a project across conversations.
